Fete and Fayre Sneak Peek

Are you coming this Saturday ? We are making these.

We are using Basic Grey PB&J range. Like the majority of the scrapping population in the UK, I haven't bought any Basic Grey for a while...I hope you will like what I have done for this workshop.

There are plenty of different colours on the double sided papers so you should be able to tailor your layouts to suit. For "rallying", you need 2 x 4x6"  photos...mine are in portrait mode but landscape would work too. For "queen", you need 1 x 6x4" photo and 1 3x3".

See you all on Saturday.

An Alternative Banner

The flags in this layout is inspired by the flags and mast on the boat I photographed. I also decided to dip into my rarely used but often added to stash of laces to use for the flags.  I think it is a nice alternative to the horizontal, paper version.  Let's face it, with the celebrations we are having this year in the UK, I think the bunting craze is going to stay with us a while yet.

I did this layout for Sarah's Cards earlier this year. I've used die cuts from Pink Paislee Nantucket collection, perfect for a day at the beach. The photos are from out day trip to Aldeburgh last summer.  It was warm but it is never warm enough for me to go in the sea anywhere here.  But H being the hardy soul he is, did.

I was contemplating making a trip to beach yesterday and today, we ended up with the greyest day. Perhaps it is best that I don't contemplate and plan...just do it...surprise the "weather man" so he does not put a damper on my plans.

My boy has done us proud

Tracie is hosting the challenge on Sarah's Cards Blog this month.  I love the simplicity of her sketch as I find some sketches too detailled ( and constricting ).  This is what I have made.

J has done us proud. He has been award the Greek prize this year.  Unfortunately, we won't see him receive it.  Here's the explanation in the journalling,

You don't often receive a letter, much less one post marked "... School" so when I handed you the letter, it appeared you already knew. Your only concern is that you  don't have to attend Speech Day.  You don't. You won the Greek Prize though we won't see you receive it.

Year 11 finished school just before GCSE started and have no further commitment to attend school except to attend exams. I would have love to see him on stage again, though.

I have used Heidi Swapp Color Magic Range that I coloured with Faber Castell Stamper's Big Brush Pen.

So come on over and join us in the challenge for a chance to win £20 to spend in store.  Surely that is one tempting proposition ?

Jubilee Weekend

So how was it for you ? Wasn't it great ? Despite the weather, I think the celebratory spirit really showed through. Perhaps I spent too much time on the tv following the coverage but why not ? It doesn't come around very often now, does it ?

We were in London on Sunday to watch the Thames Pageant. Wow, what a spectacle that was. We arrived in Battersea just after ten. Unfortunately we had to queue up as they didn't have the scanners to let people in.

When we were finally let in, every one made their way to the river front. We couldn't find anywhere right up front to stand so we set up our picnic blanket on a slightly hilly flower bed.

We waited over three hours before the Pageant started with this first boat.

I had to snap some photos of the boats bearing the Commonwealth flags. I love how they are all in neat formation ( though the lines went to pieces very soon after this! )

The boat the Queen was travelling on was docked just in front of us. After watching and wondering when they were going to join, they finally did.

After we waved the Queen past, people started to lose interest. We did watch a few more go pass but we retreated to check out the entertainment at Battersea Festival.

It started to rain quite hard so we followed a large group of sensible people and left.

I have also picked the winner of my Jubilee buttons. It is no 6, Helen. Helen, could you send me your address and I will get them out to you.
